No Shave November at EFP

No Shave November is officially over!

The team at Elite Fitness Plus participated in "No Shave November". The purpose behind the facial hair growth was to promote awareness of Men's health, emphasizing prostate cancer. Prostate cancer occurs when cells in the prostate start to grow uncontrollably. In general, men with prostate cancer have several small tumors in the prostate.

The normal prostate is a small, squishy gland about the size of a walnut. It sits under the bladder and in front of the rectum. The urethra-the narrow tube that runs the length of the penis and carries both urine and semen out of the body-runs directly through the prostate. The rectum, or lower end of the bowel, sits just behind the prostate and the bladder. A doctor typically diagnoses prostate cancer after closely examining biopsy cells through a microscope. There are several types of cells in the prostate, and each contributes in its own way to the prostate's development, architecture, and function. However, cancer cells look different than normal prostate cells. Pathologists look for these differences first to detect the presence of cancer and then to determine the cancer grade.
